Chidimma Adetshina Clashes with Trolls as She Faces Deportation in South Africa

Chidimma Adetshina Clashes with Trolls as She Faces Deportation in South Africa — 1 of 3
1 / 3

On 9 June, beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina appeared in a Cape Town court after her detention by police and immigration authorities. The Department of Home Affairs had launched a detailed probe into her and her parents’ citizenship status. Despite the legal drama, the 25-year-old took to TikTok on 17 June to mock anti-immigrant trolls who warned her about the pending deadline for her stay. She remains outspoken online even as the case unfolds. Authorities allege her Mozambican mother used false documents to pose as a South African citizen. This led officials to confiscate Chidimma’s and her son’s identification papers earlier this year. After obtaining a Nigerian passport while competing in Miss Universe Nigeria, she applied for a South African visitor’s visa. That application was rejected amid claims she submitted a fraudulent bank statement, and she now awaits possible deportation.

It's odd most attention stays on her trolls instead of the serious citizenship probe playing out in court.

Surely she shouldn't distract from her own paperwork issues by arguing online with random trolls.

Anyone traveling or working abroad should double check immigration status and carry all original documents to avoid sudden detention or legal hassles.
