LP Caretaker Rules Out Peter Obi’s Return for 2027 Presidential Ticket

Interim Labour Party chairman Sen. Nenadi Usman says Peter Obi cannot join the party’s 2027 presidential primary once the membership register closes. Under Nigeria’s Electoral Act, political parties must submit their final membership list to INEC 21 days before primaries. After that deadline, late entries are legally barred from contesting. Peter Obi, who ran as LP’s 2023 candidate and finished third, has since left for the ADC where he hopes to secure the 2027 ticket.
