Tinubu, Obasanjo and Akpabio Celebrate Ogun’s New Gateway Airport and Airline
President Bola Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Senate President Godswill Akpabio gathered in Ogun State to inaugurate the newly completed Gateway International Airport, Iperu-Ilishan, and the state’s own carrier, Gateway Airline. They also commissioned key road, housing and health projects delivered under Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration. At the event, President Tinubu praised Governor Abiodun’s vision and use of federal allocations for infrastructure. He highlighted the airport’s role as an economic nerve centre and commended initiatives such as electric bikes, agricultural programmes and energy investments. Former President Obasanjo described the airport as a landmark achievement that will cut travel time and spur development. Governor Abiodun thanked the President for his symbolic presence and outlined his administration’s record: over 1,600 km of roads, more than 7,000 affordable homes, a 200-bed medical centre of excellence and a 34.1MW independent power plant. He also spoke on mechanised farming, enhanced security, and the adoption of electric mobility in response to rising fuel costs.
