World Cup 2026: Drama, Unity and Our Missed Super Eagles

World Cup 2026: Drama, Unity and Our Missed Super Eagles

I’m missing Nigeria at this year’s World Cup. Under coach Eric Chelle, the emerging Super Eagles could have been one of the teams to beat. I’m excited by the talent scout’s recent finds across Europe. The 2026 World Cup has brought a soothing break to global conflicts. Fans in stadiums and on streets have set aside differences. Sport reminds us how peace and harmony can unite humanity. Several African teams have impressed, from Morocco to Côte d’Ivoire. Yet the sharpest contenders now look to be France, Argentina and Mexico. Messi continues to dominate, playing with freedom and unequalled flair. Back home, the NSC and NFF have plans to strengthen Nigerian football. Better contracts, improved league funding and inclusive governance are steps that could shape the next decade for our Eagles.

It's true the World Cup brings a welcome break from international tensions, but that peace often feels temporary once the tournament ends.
