PFIPC Scandal and Tribal Bias: What If Gbajabiamila Were Igbo?
Over the past few days, the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal has dominated social media. Many Nigerians are debating its merits, exposing the lawlessness and brazen injustices that characterise "One Nigeria". If you are reading this with an open mind, I urge you to imagine that Femi Gbajabiamila—the prime suspect behind this multi-billion-naira agency—was an Igbo man. Consider the national uproar, the massive protests and the zealous actions of EFCC, DSS and ICPC. Picture radio stations demanding his head and political rivals calling for his public trial. I ask you to ponder how an Igbo name would change everything. This reveals the tribal bias at the heart of our system and shows how corruption, nepotism and religious bigotry continue unchecked. For those from Igbo, North Central or minority communities, this should be a wake-up call. If Nigeria were truly fair, our national debate would demand impeachment and real accountability. Instead, we must consider a referendum for full decentralisation or even dissolution of "One Nigeria".
