Oyo Police Deny Sunday Igboho’s Role in Igboho Kidnap Rescue
The Oyo State Police Command has refuted online claims that activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, secured the release of a family abducted in Igboho community, Oorelope LGA. In a statement, the police said there is no official confirmation of the hostages’ release or evidence linking Igboho to any rescue operation. The Commissioner of Police has not validated the social media reports. The clarification came after videos and posts celebrated the alleged freedom of a woman, her children and a relative following Igboho’s two-hour ultimatum to their captors. Earlier reports said armed men stormed the community at midnight, abducted the family and demanded ransom. Tension rose amid conflicting accounts of casualties and the current fate of the abducted family remains uncertain as police urge the public to await verified updates.
