To address Nigeria’s shortage of skilled artisans in construction, Axion Africa organised the “Axion 2026 Builders Challenge Abuja” in Gudu. The workshop united artisans, architects and industry experts to discuss performance challenges and share practical solutions. Axion Africa’s Abuja Manager, Tochukwu Eze, highlighted the company’s mission to deliver innovative, sustainable building materials. He urged artisans to continuously upgrade their skills and stressed the importance of ethical practices in construction. Mrs. Victoria Gana of the Nigeria Institute of Building commended the training and encouraged young people to embrace vocational skills. She noted that combining quality materials with competent artisans reduces structural defects nationwide. Axion Africa also unveiled new products for tiling, plastering and decorative finishing. Outstanding trainees were recognised and rewarded for their excellence in tiling, screeding and design.

Impressive initiative, but hosting a single workshop seems unlikely to reshape industry practices without ongoing support for these artisans.

Local craft guilds could partner with Axion Africa to set up regular hands-on sessions and ensure artisans continue honing newly introduced skills.
