Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen was named Footballer of the Year at the 72nd annual Milliyet Sports Awards in Turkey. The ceremony took place at Istanbul’s Volkswagen Arena on April 2. Osimhen, who is recovering from arm surgery, was absent in person. His teammate Uğurcan Çakır accepted the award on his behalf. Via video link, Osimhen thanked his club, teammates, fans, and management for their support. The Nigerian forward earned the honour after a spectacular 2025 campaign. He scored 26 goals and provided four assists in 30 Süper Lig games, plus six Europa League goals and five in the Turkish Cup. His early 2025/26 form included 12 goals and four assists in the league and seven goals in the Champions League before injury sidelined him.
