Federal Polytechnic Damaturu Hosts Conference on TVET, Poverty Reduction and Security

The first Sahel Multidisciplinary Conference has opened at the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, Yobe State, with discussions focused on using technical and vocational education and training (TVET) to address poverty, unemployment and insecurity. The conference, themed “Societal Security and Poverty Reduction: Integrating TVET into Research, Policy and Practice,” brought together scholars, government officials, education administrators and other stakeholders. Speakers urged participants to turn research findings into practical policies and interventions that can create jobs, strengthen livelihoods and improve security. Presentations examined how skills acquisition, human capital development and economic resilience can support inclusive growth and deter crime. The Yobe State Government restated its support for education and technical training, while participants called for partnerships that would continue beyond the conference.
