UNICEF Nigeria Internship: Hands-On Experience in Social Policy

UNICEF Nigeria Internship: Hands-On Experience in Social Policy

UNICEF Nigeria is offering a structured internship for current undergraduates to gain practical experience in social policy program design and delivery. Interns will support data management, report writing, project monitoring and government liaison under the guidance of senior staff. Successful candidates will be involved in advocacy efforts for child social protection, contribute to technical planning, and assist with coordination and evaluation across programme sections. This role also provides opportunities to develop skills in Microsoft Office tools, data analysis and stakeholder management. Applicants must be Nigerian students in their second year or above, with strong academic records, fluency in English and no prior work experience. To apply, prepare your most recent academic transcript, a departmental referral letter, a cover letter explaining your motivation, and proof of valid medical insurance. Submit all documents via the UNICEF application portal.

Interning abroad fit teach you some theory, but social change skills come more from grassroots engagement than policy design workshops.

I noticed the internship covers data management, report writing, project monitoring and government liaison—undergraduates might struggle without clear mentorship.

Hands-on experience sounds great, but many internships end up assigning routine clerical duties instead of strategic policy work.

Intern candidates should highlight relevant coursework in social policy and statistics on their applications to stand out for data management and reporting roles.
