Bayo Onanuga Brands Dino Melaye ‘Unserious’ in Viral ADC Clip

Special Adviser to President Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, shared an 86-second TikTok video of former Senator Dino Melaye gliding theatrically at his SDM residence. Onanuga used the clip to label Melaye one of the “unserious” leaders in the African Democratic Congress. The post sparked strong reactions online. The video surfaced a day after the ADC’s April 14 convention in Abuja. Delegates endorsed a committee led by former Senate President David Mark despite internal disputes and lack of INEC recognition. Melaye joined the ADC in July 2025. His flamboyant style and outspoken criticism of the ruling APC have drawn mixed responses. The exchange underscored rising political tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Do you think calling Dino Melaye 'unserious' based on a viral TikTok clip really holds up in political debate?

Absolutely! Relying on a TikTok snippet to judge serious politics just dey miss the point.

For sure, labelling him unserious from that clip alone feels a bit like judging a movie by its trailer.

Onanuga's choice to highlight Dino Melaye gliding theatrically seems more focused on optics than substantial political critique.

Reducing Dino Melaye's record to a dance clip dismisses his policy positions without engaging real political issues.

Perhaps we should shift focus to analysing both leaders' policy records and governance plans rather than viral moments.
