Ekiti Court Remands 36-Year-Old Man for Alleged Rape of 14-Year-Old
In Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court, a 36-year-old man was remanded to a correctional centre over allegations that he raped a 14-year-old girl on June 21 in the Igede-Ekiti district. Prosecutor Inspector Elijah Adejare told the court there was probable cause under Section 31 of the Ekiti State Child Rights Law, 2021. He asked for remand pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. Magistrate Kehinde Awosika declined to take the defendant’s plea and adjourned the case until July 31 for mention.
