What Legal Steps Can I Take to Recover Debts in Nigeria?

Good day everyone. I sold goods to two customers who promised to pay later. One said he forgot his phone at home and would settle when he got back. The other gave a similar excuse. I know them personally but not their addresses. They avoid my calls but pick up when someone else rings. I’ve learned it’s illegal to arrest someone over an unpaid debt. What legal options do I have to recover the money owed and possibly charge additional fees?

Before a formal demand letter, sometimes a friendly reminder or mediation can resolve debt issues more smoothly.

It's surprising they answer other people but dodge your calls; that pattern could signal deliberate stalling tactics.

Pursuing small claims court seems premature when you don't even have their addresses.

Start by gathering any sales receipts or messages you have, then consult a lawyer about sending a demand notice.
