Gombe Principal Remanded for Shielding Teacher Accused of Raping Six-Year-Old

A Gombe State Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of a school principal and a teacher at the Medium Security Custodial Centre over allegations of sexual assault involving a six-year-old pupil. According to the prosecution, the class teacher allegedly assaulted the child in July 2026. The matter came to light when the victim confided in her mother. It is further alleged that the principal hid evidence instead of reporting the crime. Both defendants pleaded guilty to charges under Sections 285 and 167 of the Penal Code. The prosecution has asked for a summary trial under Section 338 of the Gombe State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2020. The case is adjourned to July 28, 2026, for judgment.
