PAAU Denies Viral Cultism Video, Strengthens Campus Security
Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, has asked the public to disregard a viral clip that falsely linked cult activities to its campus. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, called the video misleading and malicious, aimed at causing panic. At a security stakeholders meeting on 29 June, the university donated two new vehicles to boost its anti-cultism efforts. One vehicle will serve the Joint Security & Anti-Cultism Squad, while the other will support routine patrols around campus. The University Management Committee also approved the reconstitution of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee and the Examination Misconduct Committee to enforce campus regulations. A new Committee on Behavioural Change and Cult Renunciation will counsel and rehabilitate students involved in unlawful associations. Traditional rulers, security agencies and local government leaders praised the university’s proactive measures. The Vice-Chancellor thanked the governor of Kogi State and his predecessor for their support and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to student safety.
