Kwankwasiyya Spokesman Says Keeping Shettima Won’t Boost APC—Seyi Tinubu More Powerful
The Kwankwasiyya Movement’s national spokesperson criticised President Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima for the 2027 ticket. He argued that the move offers no electoral advantage and follows a familiar path rather than a strategic choice. He said Nigerians, especially in the North, have judged the current Muslim-Muslim ticket and found it lacking. According to him, the president’s son holds more influence in the administration than Shettima, suggesting convenience drove the choice rather than vote-winning potential. The spokesman questioned Shettima’s impact on key challenges like insecurity and poverty in the North. He noted there is little evidence of the vice president contributing beyond representing the government at public events. He concluded that religion will no longer sway many voters and that competence and sincerity matter more. The retention of Shettima, he said, is unlikely to strengthen APC’s chances at the polls.
