Wike Waives C of O Fees and Fast-Tracks Land Approval for Nigerian Law School Campus

Wike Waives C of O Fees and Fast-Tracks Land Approval for Nigerian Law School Campus

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has ordered an immediate waiver of Certificate of Occupancy fees for the Nigerian Law School’s Abuja campus. All processing charges are now lifted and the approval process must be completed within one week. He also announced emergency infrastructure interventions. Ten staff housing units are ready for commissioning, and plans are under way to build ten more quarters using existing designs to save time and cost. Two new hostels for male and female students have begun, and a new auditorium has been approved. Wike instructed the Law School to work with the FCTA General Counsel on digitising administrative systems, drawing on reforms at the FCT High Court. These measures form part of wider efforts under the current administration to strengthen legal and judicial institutions.

It seems ambitious to finish all approvals in just one week; such speed rarely guarantees thorough checks or fair processes.

Cutting fees so abruptly might set a risky precedent and could undermine consistent policy application across other federal projects.

Local firms and student bodies should document the expedited approval process carefully to ensure any delays or irregularities are officially reported.
