Niger State Governor Reassigns Six Commissioners to Fill Vacant Ministries
Governor Umar Bago has directed six commissioners to oversee additional ministries after some cabinet members resigned to contest the 2027 general elections. Alhaji Muazu Hamidu Jantabo, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, will now oversee Rural Development. Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Alhaji Mustapha Ndajiwo, will supervise Special Duties. Commissioner for Investment, Alhaji Aminu Suleman Takuma, is assigned to Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives. Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Jacob Baba Isa, will manage Sports Development. Commissioner for Technical and Vocational Education, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Katcha, will oversee Tertiary Education. Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Hadiza Idris Kuta, is to supervise Arts and Culture. The governor urged the commissioners to view these additional roles as an opportunity to enhance service delivery. He expressed optimism that the State Executive Council will continue to work collaboratively for seamless governance. Earlier, he had asked all political appointees seeking elective positions to resign, leading six of the 30 commissioners to step down.
