Former Foster Carer Gets 31-Year Sentence for Walthamstow Child Grooming

A retired foster carer from Walthamstow has been sentenced to 31 years in prison after admitting 22 sexual offences against five children. The abuse took place between 2002 and 2009 and involved victims aged seven to 16. Investigators found he invited children into his home, gave them alcohol and cigarettes to lower their inhibitions, then repeatedly exploited their trust. Police uncovered digital evidence, including indecent images and CCTV footage, that supported survivors’ accounts. The case came to light when one survivor reported the abuse in late 2023. Detectives praised the victims’ courage and are urging anyone else affected or with information about his time as a builder, lorry driver or foster carer to contact the authorities for support.
