DSS Storms Malami’s Abuja Home After Atiku’s Visit

DSS Storms Malami’s Abuja Home After Atiku’s Visit

Operatives of the Department of State Services reportedly forced their way into former AGF Abubakar Malami’s residence in Maitama, Abuja, on Monday. Malami challenged them for lacking a court order, asking, “Do you want to disgrace me?” The raid came shortly after former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar spent about an hour at the house. An aide confirmed Atiku’s visit, and witnesses say DSS officers had already surrounded the property during the meeting. Observers link the move to growing pressure on opposition figures to join the ruling APC. Malami is currently on trial for alleged corruption, a case critics call politically motivated. The DSS has not yet commented on the incident.

What stronger motive might the DSS have for raiding Malami's residence just after Atiku's visit to Abuja?

Could it be the DSS believes Malami obstructed a probe linked to Atiku's agenda?

It's interesting that operatives barged in without a court order, raising doubts about procedural fairness in this investigation.

Maybe this intrusion is less about politics and more about enforcing security protocols—but the timing still seems off.

Lawyers or civil rights groups should monitor the DSS's next steps and demand clarity on legal justification to uphold rule of law.
