US Woman Sentenced to Life for Killing 4-Year-Old Daughter Over Jealousy
A 33-year-old mother in West Virginia pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and child abuse after confessing to killing her 4-year-old daughter, Haley. Prosecutors say she became obsessively jealous of the attention the child received from her husband. The court heard that on the night of July 11, 2022, the woman retrieved a kitchen knife, covered her daughter’s mouth to keep her father from hearing, and inflicted a fatal throat wound. She then hid the weapon, used the laundry machine, and returned to bed before waking her husband to report the death. After initially accusing her husband of sexual abuse to cover up the crime, she admitted sole responsibility as part of her plea. She received two life sentences and will be eligible for parole in 30 years. The judge noted she is likely to spend the rest of her life in prison.
