FG Aims to Create 3 Million Youth Jobs Annually

FG Aims to Create 3 Million Youth Jobs Annually

The Federal Government has announced plans to generate about 3 million jobs for young Nigerians each year. The initiative aims to harness the country’s large youth population and curb rising unemployment. Officials speaking at the Youth Policy Dialogue Series in Abuja highlighted key sectors for growth, including agriculture, technology, security, and innovation. They noted that many young people remain unaware of the existing National Youth Policy and called for improved outreach to boost participation in government programmes. Speakers also urged better infrastructure and resource access. Proposals included raising the NYSC age limit to 33–35 years and adjusting age criteria for youth-targeted political and job opportunities to ensure true representation and wider opportunities.
