Ifeanyi Udeze Urges NFF to Overhaul Super Eagles for 2030 World Cup

Ifeanyi Udeze Urges NFF to Overhaul Super Eagles for 2030 World Cup

Former Nigeria defender Ifeanyi Udeze has called on the Nigeria Football Federation to begin rebuilding the Super Eagles with an eye on the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Udeze highlighted Nigeria’s failure to reach back-to-back tournaments after losing to Ghana in the 2022 final qualifier and falling to DR Congo in a 2025 playoff. He urged early planning and youth development to avoid repeated disappointments. The former international stressed that investing in fresh talent and coaching structures now will improve Nigeria’s chances of back on football’s biggest stage by 2030.

It's interesting that Udeze points to past failures without detailing concrete steps. Rebuilding needs more than just general calls for change.

Urging a full rebuild overlooks players already close to their peak; experience still matters in tournament qualifiers, not just fresh faces.

NFF should invest in youth academies across all states and implement performance tracking from age 16. Na so we go secure future strength.
