Troops of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion have rescued a woman and her two children during a perimeter-clearance patrol near Amuda Bridge in Borno State. The woman, 25-year-old Rukaya Mohammed, was rescued with six-year-old Hauwa Mustapha and four-year-old Fati Mustapha at about 6:30 a.m. on August 14, 2026. She was reportedly abducted from Vartalaka in 2017 and forced into marriage by terrorists in Chinene. Rukaya said disagreements within the terrorist camp created an opportunity for her and the children to escape after some fighters abandoned the area. The three have been handed over to relevant officials for further care and action.
