FG to Use Digital Identity Tech to Curb Illegal Mining
The Federal Government plans to integrate digital identity technology into the solid minerals sector to strengthen oversight and tackle illegal mining. Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dele Alake hosted the NIMC Director-General Abisoye Coker-Odusote in Abuja to explore closer cooperation on digital ID solutions for mining governance. They said a robust identity framework would help distinguish licensed operators, improve surveillance and boost regulatory enforcement nationwide. NIMC noted that recent legal reforms now support wider adoption of digital IDs across government, enabling better data integration, transparency and service delivery in mining communities.
