Edo Releases ₦1bn to Clear Gratuity Arrears for Retired LG and Primary School Workers
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has released ₦1 billion to pay outstanding gratuities owed to retired local government and primary school workers. The funds will support payments for retirees in the 2012 batch and continue efforts to clear older arrears, according to the State Local Government Service Commission. Pensioners’ and local government workers’ unions welcomed the intervention but urged the state government to increase future releases so the backlog can be cleared faster.
