Ifedayo Stakeholders Reject Zoning, Demand Merit-Based Assembly Candidate Selection

A group called Concerned Stakeholders for Equity, Competence, and Progress in Ifedayo LGA has urged Governor Adeleke to select the next State House of Assembly representative based on merit rather than zoning. They stressed that fairness and unity matter, but competence and credibility should guide the final choice. They argued that past rotational arrangements must not override proven capacity and public acceptance. The stakeholders denied any binding zoning agreement and warned against sectional agitation. They called on all aspirants to submit to an open, inclusive democratic process. They appealed to the governor to uphold neutrality and internal party democracy. They expressed confidence in his commitment to deliver effective representation and drive progress in Ifedayo and across Osun State.

I get the push for merit, but zoning dey important to protect minority voices and ensure no ward feels left behind.

Perhaps a transparent scoring rubric and public town halls could balance competence criteria with regional fairness in selecting the next assembly candidate.
