Kidnapped Benue Seminarian Escapes Captors, Reunites With Family

Kelvin Ochai, a seminarian of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo, has escaped from kidnappers after being abducted in Asa III, Otukpo, Benue State. The diocese said he fled his captors on the evening of July 31, 2026, and made his way to Aliade in Gwer East LGA. He has since been reunited with his family and was not injured. The Bishop of Otukpo Diocese thanked parish members, security personnel and others who supported efforts during the ordeal. He also called for prayers for other kidnapping victims still in captivity as insecurity persists in Benue and other parts of Nigeria.
