Oyedepo Warns Young Nigerians Against Relying on Betting for Wealth

Bishop David Oyedepo has warned young Nigerians against seeing sports betting as a route to wealth. The Living Faith Church Worldwide founder said lasting prosperity comes through patience, discipline and hard work, not gambling. Speaking during a Sunday sermon, Oyedepo said betting can waste young people’s time and distract them from building their future. “Things may be slow, but it is sure,” he said, urging them to stay committed to productive work. He also recalled giving a car to the woman who led him to Christianity as a teenager, describing it as an expression of gratitude. His comments come amid continuing concerns about the financial and social effects of betting addiction among Nigerian youths.
