Obe-Apata Youths Reject Alleged Attacks on Aiyedatiwa Over Community Status
The Obe-Apata Ilaje Community Youth Congress has condemned alleged derogatory remarks against Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa by the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative over the administrative status of Obe-Apata. In a statement issued on July 22, the group said disagreements over boundaries and government records should be pursued through lawful and constitutional channels, not personal attacks or inflammatory statements. The congress said the classification of Obe-Apata under Ilaje Local Government predates the current administration. It also maintained that Obe-Apata and Akpata are distinct communities, and reaffirmed that Obe-Apata is part of Ugbo Kingdom in Ilaje LGA. It urged all parties to avoid actions capable of disrupting peace in Ondo State’s riverine communities and called for constructive, evidence-based engagement.
