IRS Targets Floyd Mayweather’s Passport Over $7.25M Tax Debt

IRS Targets Floyd Mayweather’s Passport Over $7.25M Tax Debt

Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather could lose his US passport after the IRS flagged an unpaid tax bill topping $7.25 million. The agency plans to notify the Department of State to revoke his travel document unless he clears the debt or strikes a settlement. Despite earning over $1 billion in his career, Mayweather’s legal troubles have mounted. He faces a $330,000 lawsuit over unpaid New York rent and a separate claim for a $105,690 charter flight. He has sold assets, including his private jet and luxury homes, to raise funds. An exhibition bout scheduled for June 27 against kickboxer Mike Zambidis in Athens is now in jeopardy amid these disputes. Mayweather has also filed a $340 million fraud suit against Showtime, which Paramount has dismissed as baseless.

Does anyone think Mayweather will find a way to negotiate that $7.25 million bill before losing his passport?

He rarely negotiates until everything's due, I wouldn't bet on a quick settlement here

For someone who earned over a billion, it seems odd he'd let taxes pile up to this level.

I don't buy the idea they're targeting him as a warning—they're just enforcing tax law against a $7.25 million debt.

If he wants to keep traveling, settling part of that debt quickly or negotiating a payment plan seems his only real option.
