Buratai, Defence Chiefs Stress Leadership and Community in Defeating Insurgency
Prominent Nigerians attended the unveiling of “Counterterrorism and Counterinsurgency Operations in North East Nigeria,” a two-volume study by retired Major-General Ibrahim Yusuf. The session emphasized the value of documenting operational experiences for national security. Representing the Vice-President, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo praised the publication as a strategic contribution. He noted that Nigeria’s fight against insurgency showcases the resilience of citizens and the armed forces. Defence Minister Christopher Musa urged greater civil-military cooperation and continuous learning. He described counterinsurgency as a collective responsibility beyond military force. Former Army Chief Tukur Buratai and other service chiefs highlighted the importance of adaptive leadership and local support. Scholars commended the book’s blend of academic depth and practical insight for future policymakers and officers.
