Ex-Lawmaker Alleges Diversion of Ebonyi Skill Centre Equipment
A former House of Representatives member for Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency, Darlington Okereke, has accused Ohaozara East Development Centre Coordinator Favour Uloma Okorie of allegedly distributing equipment meant for a federal skill acquisition centre as personal empowerment items. Okereke said the equipment, including sewing machines, weaving machines, dryers, hairdressing tools and furniture-making machines, was supplied in 2010 for the Ngbo-Ugwu/Langu Skill Acquisition Centre. He said it was stored at the development centre because the skill centre was still under construction. He alleged that the items were shared with individuals instead of being returned to the completed centre for public training in tailoring, hairdressing and other trades. He called on security agencies to investigate the allegation and recover the equipment.
