Motsepe: World Cup Is Incomplete Without Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Cameroon
Confederation of African Football President Patrice Motsepe says a World Cup without Nigeria and Cameroon feels unfinished. He pointed out the Super Eagles and Indomitable Lions have shaped Africa’s global football reputation. Nigeria missed out on automatic qualification and then lost in the 2026 playoff final on penalties to DR Congo. The absence of these two powerhouses was keenly felt on the world stage. Motsepe praised their legacy and said CAF is determined to see more African teams at future World Cups. He promised to work harder to create better opportunities for all member associations. Plans include greater investment in youth football, coaching education, infrastructure and continental competitions. Motsepe remains confident that sustained commitment will yield stronger African representation at the highest level.
