Community and Police Foil Kidnapping Attempt in Ogbagi Akoko
On March 22, 2026, two men were arrested in Ogbagi Akoko for allegedly trying to abduct three-year-old Alex Ayobami. The child’s mother had sent him to his grandmother’s house behind her shop when a vigilant neighbour spotted suspicious activity. As the suspects attempted to flee on an unregistered motorcycle with Alex aboard, the grandmother grabbed hold of the bike. Other residents quickly blocked their escape, allowing police to arrive moments later and rescue the child unharmed. The Ondo State Police Command commended the swift action of community members and is now investigating any wider criminal network. The Commissioner of Police praised this example of community policing and urged all parents and neighbours to stay alert and report any suspicious behaviour.
