Kogi Varsity Student Arrested for Alleged Cult Initiation, Assault and Death Threats
Security operatives, working with Prince Abubakar Audu University management, have arrested a 400-level Economics student over alleged cult activities, assault and death threats. The suspect, 25-year-old Adejo Elisha Ojonimi, was detained on June 19 after a fellow student reported being attacked and pressured to join the Black Axe Confraternity. The victim suffered visible injuries and hid for days before alerting campus security. Investigators recovered messages on the suspect’s phone linking him to other cult members using the slogan “Egede.” Authorities have handed him over to a security agency for further investigation and possible prosecution. The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the university’s zero-tolerance policy on cultism. He urged students to report any suspicious behaviour and assured them that all information would be treated with confidentiality and seriousness.
