Police Foil Kidnap Plot Against POS Operators in Anambra, Three Arrested

Rapid Response Squad officers in Awkuzu, alongside detectives from Ogbaru Division, arrested three men after foiling an attempt to abduct a female POS operator in Atani, Ogbaru LGA. SP Tochukwu Ikenga identified the suspects as Chekwube Chukwu (32), Amarachukwu Nwobosi (34) and Sopuluchukwu Ifeakor (30). A black Toyota Camry with tinted windows was recovered. Police linked the trio to the June 3 abduction of another POS operator in Onitsha. That victim was held for ransom, and her family paid ₦3.5 million. Two POS machines and phones were seized and later recovered. The suspects have confessed and are assisting investigations. In a separate July 15 operation, RRS officers arrested 32-year-old Johnbosco Okoye in connection with a kidnapping in Okpanam, Delta State. A locally fabricated pistol, ammunition, an axe and a phone showing the victim’s photo were found on him. The police urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
