I’ve always wondered why God halted the construction of Babel and scattered humanity. The traditional view is that people wanted to make a name for themselves or reach heaven. Yet scientific insight suggests they were uniting intellectually in unprecedented ways. Here’s my take: God saw how quickly humans were advancing and feared the consequences if we continued unchecked. Had we been allowed to keep building, we might have created life or even flying homes by now. To slow our rapid intellectual progress, He introduced confusion and dispersed our efforts.
