The Lagos State Police Command has opened an investigation after a jeweller accused police officers in Festac of assault and harassment during a stop-and-search operation. In a video circulating online, the businessman is seen struggling with officers and later appears with a cut near his right eye. He said he was on his way to deliver a necklace when officers found his gold-measuring scale and allegedly accused him of using it to weigh drugs. He alleged that the officers, who he said were not properly dressed and arrived in an unregistered bus, tried to force him into their vehicle after he refused to follow them to the station. The police said the officers have been identified and directed to report for investigation. The command also asked the jeweller to contact its Complaint Response Unit to assist the probe.
