ANA Celebrates Kwara Governor’s ₦6 Million Grant to Transform Creative Education

ANA Celebrates Kwara Governor’s ₦6 Million Grant to Transform Creative Education

The Association of Nigerian Authors has commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his ₦6 million endowment to support creative education. The gesture promises to boost literary development and empower youth across Kwara State. Building on this intervention, the ANA Kwara Chapter will host a capacity-building workshop for secondary school teachers. The training will strengthen poetry teaching and performance statewide and is fully funded by the governor’s support. Scheduled for April 4 at the Kwara State University Conference Centre in Ilorin to mark World Poetry Day, the free workshop will equip teachers with modern skills in poetry writing, spoken word, and stage performance. Transportation assistance will also be provided. Trained teachers will mentor students for a statewide Spoken Word and Performance Poetry Competition in May. ANA remains committed to nurturing the next generation of Nigerian writers and performers.

While the endowment sounds promising, six million naira might not stretch far for statewide creative programs.

Even with generous funding, local writers may still struggle to benefit if the distribution plan remains unclear at community level.

Kwara authors and educators could form a committee to oversee the fund's allocation and organize regular writing clinics.
