At Least 24 Pupils Die in School Bus Crash During Uganda Excursion

The death toll from a bus accident involving pupils of King David Junior School has risen to 24 after three more students died in hospital. According to a statement by the Uganda Police Force, 18 victims have been identified. Three bodies remain unclaimed at Kapchorwa Hospital and three more at Mbale Hospital. Twenty-three injured pupils are still receiving treatment. All survivors who did not need hospital care have returned to Kampala on a separate bus. The excursion began at dawn with two buses and two taxis. Only one bus was involved in the crash. In response, Uganda’s Education Ministry has temporarily suspended all school trips. An emergency investigation will review safety guidelines and arrange police escorts for ongoing excursions.
