Army’s “Enduring Peace” Drive Boosts Fertilizer Distribution for a Conflict-Free Farming Season in Southern Kaduna
Operation Enduring Peace has ramped up efforts ahead of the 2026 planting season by distributing fertilizer to farmers across Southern Kaduna. This initiative aims to strengthen food security and foster harmony between herders and farming communities. At the fourth stakeholders’ seminar, Major General Folusho Oyinlola—represented by Brigadier-General Musa Sule—stressed that tolerance and collaboration are vital for a successful harvest. He noted that insecurity undermines yields and social cohesion. Traditional rulers, religious leaders, and youth representatives from Jama’a, Kaura, Kauru, Zango Kataf, and Jaba agreed on conflict-mitigation measures. The military also committed 760 bags of fertilizer as a non-kinetic intervention to support local agriculture. Local authorities, led by the Jemaka Local Government chairman, pledged sustained dialogue and a community-driven code of conduct. All parties called for regular engagement to ensure the 2026 farming season remains peaceful and productive.
