Prepare for the Real “Jagaban”: VDM Warns of Looming Insecurity in Lagos

Prepare for the Real “Jagaban”: VDM Warns of Looming Insecurity in Lagos

VDM cautions that terrorists and bandits—the real “Jagabans”—are advancing toward Lagos. He urges the state to act now or risk facing the same security challenges seen elsewhere in Nigeria by 2027. He stresses that no one is doing enough to stop this threat. “You people should get ready. I’m not talking about Bola Tinubu,” he warns. “Between now and 2027, Lagos should prepare or nobody can stop Jagaban.” VDM also highlights a troubling trend in voter turnout. Despite 77% of Nigerians registering in 2023, only 22% actually voted. In some states, turnout was as low as 12%. He argues that low participation makes elections easier to rig and calls on Nigerians to vote in high numbers in 2027.

It's curious that VDM calls terrorists and bandits the real 'Jagabans', yet no concrete strategy has emerged.

I'm not convinced that Lagos faces the same level of threat elsewhere; blanket comparisons might overlook local nuances.

Reviewing existing neighborhood watch schemes and improving early warning systems could bolster Lagos's preparedness against these threats.
