Army Rescues Kidnapped Lieutenant Colonel, Civilian After 10 Days in Enugu
Nigerian Army troops have rescued Lt.-Col. Ofor Amobi and civilian Ikechukwu Onwuanra after they were held by kidnappers for 10 days in Enugu State. The victims were found at the edge of a forest in Inyi, Oji River LGA, after troops received intelligence on their location around 2 a.m. on Friday. They had reportedly been abandoned following sustained pressure from a joint security operation. Personnel from Operation UDO KA, the 82 Division Garrison, 103 Battalion, the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service and the 197 Special Forces Battalion searched forests and communities around Inyi, Awlaw and Akpugo-Eze. Both men sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to the 82 Division Medical Hospital for treatment. The military said they had been blindfolded and moved to an unknown location before being abandoned near the Enugu-Anambra border.
