Suspected bandits attacked Lata Nna community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State on Sunday morning, August 2, 2026. A woman was killed and another resident was abducted as the gunmen opened fire, forcing villagers to flee into nearby bushes. Residents said some people sustained injuries during the raid. They also criticised the absence of security personnel, saying repeated appeals over rising threats in the area had not received adequate response. The attack came a day after Mohammed Abubakar Ndakpada Lata was reportedly abducted while returning from his farm. His kidnappers were said to have demanded a ₦100 million ransom. Security authorities had not issued an official statement at the time of the report.
