NDLEA Vows “We Will Find You” as It Destroys 25.8 Tonnes of Illicit Drugs in Imo
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency carried out its first public destruction of 25,807.192kg of seized drugs in Imo. The haul included 2,319 litres of codeine cough syrup, 24,945.302kg of cannabis, and smaller quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and other psychotropic substances. Maj.-Gen. Mohammed Buba-Marwa said the open exercise is a statement of accountability, ensuring that seized drugs are never recycled or lost in transit. Represented by the agency’s Director of Operations, he warned traffickers that the NDLEA will track, arrest, prosecute, and destroy illicit consignment in full view of the public. The Imo NDLEA Commander highlighted the role of intelligence-driven raids and partnerships with sister agencies in recovering the substances. The governor’s deputy affirmed that this demonstration underscores the state’s zero tolerance for drug trafficking and abuse. A special adviser on narcotics praised the officers’ efforts and urged all citizens to unite against the menace of illicit drugs.
