IRGC Issues 30-Day Ultimatum to the US Over Naval Blockade
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has given the United States 30 days to lift its naval blockade on Iranian ports. They warn that failure to comply could lead to a military escalation or force Iran into an unfavourable agreement. The ultimatum follows Tehran’s 14-point proposal to Washington. It calls for guarantees of non-aggression, reopening maritime routes, an end to hostilities in Lebanon and other fronts. Iran’s foreign ministry says the plan aims for a permanent resolution, not just a temporary ceasefire. The US has said the proposal is under review but expressed uncertainty about reaching a deal. Washington insists Iran must first stop restricting the Strait of Hormuz and end uranium enrichment activities. Tensions between the two countries spiked after Iran limited strait access in response to US and Israeli strikes on February 28. The naval restrictions remain in place despite a ceasefire that came into effect on April 8.
