EFCC Reportedly Restricts Osun Government Account Days Before Governorship Election
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly placed an Osun State Government account with First Bank on Post No Debit status, barely 10 days before the August 15 governorship election. The account is said to be used for workers’ salaries. The development followed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s allegation that the EFCC planned to freeze state accounts and those belonging to senior officials. The state government says the action could disrupt government operations and argues that the EFCC has no legal basis to freeze its accounts. A government source reportedly confirmed the restriction, while the EFCC had not issued a public response at the time of the report.
