Tinubu Deploys 1,000 Forest Guards as FG Security Chiefs Visit Oyo Kidnap Sites

A Federal Government delegation visited Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire LGA on May 31, 2026 after pupils and teachers were abducted from three schools on May 15. President Bola Tinubu has approved recruiting 1,000 forest guards in Oyo State and directed a specialized rescue unit to intensify efforts. A request for a new military base will be sent to the President for approval. Led by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, NSA Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and IGP Tunji Disu, the team met community leaders to reassure them that every resource will be deployed for a safe release. They also paid respects at the palace of the Soun of Ogbomoso and comforted the family of the late teacher, promising support for the victims’ relatives.
