Death Toll in Spain Wildfire Climbs to 13 After British Woman’s Death
The death toll from a major wildfire in Spain’s Almería province has risen to 13 after a 93-year-old British woman died in hospital. Eight people were treated for injuries, four with serious burns, following the blaze. The fire swept through over 7,000 hectares in the Los Gallardos area. Authorities report two more people missing and are working with families in France, Belgium and the UK to register cases and collect DNA samples. Regional officials say the blaze is now contained and its perimeter secured. More than 1,000 residents have returned to their homes in evacuated villages north of Los Gallardos.
